Domestic violence warning signs

Life's New Beginnings is a non-profit organization established for the sole purpose of increasing public awareness of Domestic Violence and how it affects all of us.

Domestic Violence:

What Will It Take To Stop Domestic Violence?

(Page 2)

Domestic violence has a devastating physical, emotional and psychological affect on the domestic violence victims.  Oftentimes, domestic violence ends in murder.

So, What Will It Take To Stop Domestic Violence?

Our Churches and Religious Communities Must Get Involved In The Fight To Stop Domestic Violence

In the 2000 U. S. Census, over 215 Million people in the United States presented themselves as Christians, over 76% of the population.

Have you ever heard the words "domestic violence" come from the pulpit?

Have you ever sat in on a church committee or business meeting where the subject "domestic violence" was discussed?

Have you ever seen an article on "domestic violence" in your church bulletin?

Have you ever seen any literature (brochure, bulletin, pamphlet) on "domestic violence" anywhere in your church building?

Has a representative of a "domestic violence" organization ever been invited to speak at your church?

Have you ever been involved in establishing a "domestic violence" shelter in or for your church?

Oftentimes, a woman who has experienced domestic violence will turn to her faith first, and many times, she will approach her pastor or another member of her church congregation.

Many pastors don't speak on "domestic violence" for fear that an abused woman or an abuser will approach them and they will not know how to deal with the situation

.

Our churches must understand that domestic violence is against every Christian belief that allows this great nation to remain free and it is against God's will for us.

State Coalitions Against Domestic Violence Must Work Together

As far as we can determine, every state has its own Coalition Against Domestic Violence. We all must understand that we are working toward the exact same goal - Stopping Domestic Violence!

At Life's New Beginnings, we want to work with every state in doing everything we possibly can in promoting domestic violence public awareness - whether it be in Alaska or New York.

It would be great for all states to share knowledge, information and resources (other than financial), rather than competing.

We will be discussing some of our ideas on what we think must happen before domestic violence is ever brought under control.  We would also like to hear your thoughts and ideas, but we ask that you respond in the form of an e-mail to:  info@lifesnewbeginnings.org

We at Life's New Beginnings reserve the right to publish or not publish your idea or thought.
